The exhibition features around thirty digital works — archival pigment prints, face-mounted to acrylic — by Anne Varick. This is her first solo exhibition in La Jolla since 1977, when she displayed her cast-bronze, marble and pewter sculpture at Quenzler Art Studio. Despite a hiatus from the exhibition circuit, she continues to create new work, now in the digital medium. The resulting designs are fresh, vibrant and alluring.

The exhibition marks Anne Varick’s relaunch on the gallery scene as well as her first-ever collaboration with the surfboard shaper, Tim Bessell, who has a long history of working with fine artists. Tim’s most celebrated boards — now in private and museum collections — are based on Andy Warhol’s colorful screen prints (Tim met Warhol in New York in 1984). To coincide with the exhibition, Tim is producing a special limited-edition surfboard based on Anne Varick’s design.
